Matrimonial Attorney Theresa A. Spinillo

Theresa A. Spinillo

New York Matrimonial Attorney

Theresa Spinillo has been practicing matrimonial and family law for over thirteen years, with some overlap in probate and commercial litigation. She has handled hundreds of cases over the years, conducting hearings in highly contested situations such as child support, custody, family offenses and contempt proceedings. Theresa has been involved in a vast number of multi-day and multi-issue complicated divorce trials as well as family court trials. She has also represented clients in the appellate process, presenting oral arguments in the Second Department and perfecting the appeals.

Ms. Spinillo has significant experience with high asset and complex cases; No case is too complicated for her. She is deceptively aggressive as her outwardly quiet demeanor transforms to aggressive representation when and where it is needed. She believes in constant communication with her clients and is easily accessible. She always listens to her client, and will take the case in whatever direction her client requests, within reason and ethical boundaries.

During law school, Ms. Spinillo interned for the Administration For Children’s Services, appearing on record for extension of placement, hearings, and arraignments. She also drafted petitions and subpoena and researched and prepared motions and memorandum of law while interning. While in law school, Theresa also clerked at the Office of the District Attorney and DC 3 Municipal Employees Legal Services Plan, in the Matrimonial & Wills Unit. These internships and clerkships taught her invaluable lessons on how to address the court and respect fellow attorneys and litigants.

After a long association with a well-respected and well-known matrimonial and family law firm in Nassau County following her graduation from law school and admission to the New York Bar, Ms. Spinillo joins Weisman Law Group, P.C. where she represents clients from diverse backgrounds and professions, such as successful businesspeople, doctors, lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers, dentists, teachers, high ranking officers in the police departments and jewelry or diamond dealers and manufacturers.
